Outrun the Sun believes that in-depth medical research is one of our most vital defenses against melanoma and other skin cancers.
 This is why we support young melanoma investigators through the Outrun the Sun, Inc. National Melanoma Research Scholar Program. Created in 2006, the program is open to any melanoma researcher nationwide who meets criteria established by the OTS board of directors. Financial support serves as start up funding for investigators, allowing their research studies to progress to the degree that they are able to pursue larger-scale funding from organizations such as the National Institutes of Health. The OTS Scientific Review Panel reviews all applications and makes recommendations to the OTS Board of Directors. Panelists include: Theodore Logan, M.D., Indiana University Health, Indianapolis, IN; Steven Feldman, M.D., Ph.D., Wake Forest University Medical Center, Winston Salem, NC; Deborah Lang, Ph.D., University of Chicago, Chicago, IL; and Neil Shear, M.D., Ph.D., Toronto, Ontario.

OTS is pleased to announce two new Outrun the Sun, Inc. National Melanoma Research Scholars.
Tobias Schatton, Pharm.D., Ph.D., Harvard Institutes of Medicine.
Yongping Shao, Ph.D., Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson.
To date, Outrun the Sun has allocated more than $131,000 for melanoma research at the Harvard Institutes of Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University, Mayo Clinic, University of Chicago, New York University, University of California—Irvine, and Wake Forest University Medical Center.
